Equine Pools
A Trainer wishing for his horses to be swum at a facility outside of his own premises (without affecting their eligibility to run) must use a swimming pool holding a BHA Certificate of Approval.

There are currently 10 equine pools with British Horseracing Authority Certificate of Approval around Great Britain which are renewed annually. Some of these are owned by licensed trainers and others are owned by private equine establishments.

A full list of certified equine pools is available by following the link below.

Equine Pool Applications
Before the Licensing Committee considers an application for an equine pool, the facilities are inspected by a British Horseracing Authority Stable Inspector and Veterinary Officer to ensure that the criteria for the health and safety of both horse and handlers are met. In order to do this, the Inspectors watch the pool in use by the handlers at the premises.

The full criteria and application form to apply for an equine pool certification are available by following the link below. We advise that all documents are read thoroughly prior to completing the application form.

To obtain an application pack for the above, please contact the Licensing team.
