The Racing Industry Course
The long-running ‘British Racing Industry Course’ has been re-launched and bookings are now being taken for the 2009 course. Run by the British Racing School, the course is aimed at managers who wish to expand their knowledge of the racing industry. The course covers all areas of the industry with each of the subjects taught by industry experts. A combination of different activities during the course includes lectures, seminars and behind-the-scenes tours of Weatherbys, a top trainer's yard and Darley Stud. Further Information

Cheltenham Showcase Meeting - Careers Fair
Over 250 students from Abingdon & Witney College, Sparsholt College, Oaklands College and Hadlow College attended our Careers Fair at Cheltenham Racecourse on Friday 17th October. Careersinracing teamed up with Cheltenham Racecourse to showcase British racing. Students were able to visit the Weighing Room, obtain autographs of some of the top jockeys riding at Cheltenham, ride one of the mechancial racehorses and visit the various information stands in relation to careers, training and jobs in horseracing.

Careers Fairs
Two careers fairs will be taking place this autumn one on 17th October at Cheltenham Racecourse and another on 27th November at Uttoxeter Racecourse. These are a fantastic way to find out more about working in racing and meet many organisations involved. Enterprise Learning Resource Launched

A free Enterprise and Business Studies teaching resource has been launched into schools across the UK. 'Raceday' is an engaging interactive resource containing a wealth of activities and career advice that offers students an innovative Enterprise experience through the context of the British Horseracing Industry. British Racing School and Warwickshire College launch first Foundation Degree for the Horseracing Industry
The name of Warwickshire College is synonymous with innovation in equine education. With a history of firsts, the home to equine education joins forces with the British Racing School to bring out the first Foundation Degree for the Horseracing Industry. As a flexible distance-learning programme, candidates gaining a place on the Foundation Degree not only choose what they study but when and where they study. The distance learning or ‘open university’ model is further enhanced by the opportunity to study a selection of modules via short/one week study blocks at the British Racing School, a fantastic opportunity to experience the top class education delivered at the very heart of racing in the UK. Stud and Stable Staff Awards Winners
A specially invited audience of around 150 gathered to pay tribute to the leading stud and stable employees in the country, as nominated by their employers and peers. The Awards – the richest of their kind in the world, with £75,000 in prize money – are generously sponsored by Godolphin, and run by the British Horseracing Authority in association with the Racing Post.
Sean Travis from Jeremy Nosedas yard in Newmarket, was named as Stable Employee of the Year. Other winners included:

British Horseracing Authority
The British Horseracing Authority launched in July as the single, unified governing body for British Horseracing. Its role is to regulate, promote and represent the sport.
A major step in the modernisation of British Horseracing, the Authority takes on the roles of the British Horseracing Board and the Horseracing Regulatory Authority, with both of those organisations ceasing to exist.
The Authority sits at the head of a sport second only to football in Britain in terms of its revenues and attendances, and an industry responsible, directly or indirectly, for almost 90,000 full-time jobs. Its inaugural Chairman is Paul Roy, with Nic Coward its first Chief Executive.
